What is Genital Wart?

  It is a viral disease spread by HPV, that is, Human Papilloma virus, during sexual intercourse or through contact. Genital warts can occur in women.

How Are Genital Warts Diagnosed?

Genital warts can be diagnosed during an examination by Gynecologists and Obstetricians. An expert in Obstetrics and Gynecology can diagnose the wart based on its appearance.
Since genital warts may be in invisible areas, the doctor may need to perform a pelvic examination.
A slightly acidic solution can be used to make genital warts more visible during examination.
  However, additional tests may be required to clarify the diagnosis.
In suspicious cases, testing can be done with a sample taken from the area with a cotton swab.
HPV and smear tests should be done.
